The project
“Teacher leadership” is a term used in the school to identify those figures who simultaneously hold teaching and administrative roles, assisting school managers and staff in managing the entire school system.
SKILL-AED overall aim is offering a program to help aspiring teacher-leaders, in developing more sophisticated management orientated skill, increase their preparation and readiness to manage their workload, while learn how to sustain and empower others and how to lead teams for the benefit of their schools.
The project will therefore involve 3 types of participants:
1) Teachers and school managers in primary and lower secondary schools in need for professional guidance in terms of managerial and leadership skills, competences and knowledge, coming from the 4 participating countries
2) Trainers and other professionals in charge for training and assisting the main target group
3) School directors, peers of the target groups and main local stakeholders that will take part in the participated evaluation.
Aim
The consortium consists of 5 partners from as many European countries, specifically Great Britain, Italy, Cyprus, Spain and Portugal. During the life of the project, the partners commit themselves to:

Increased its offer of training courses in their respective countries, developing and testing the Skill-AED program, thus improving the skills of trainers, educators and other professionals in working with the target group

Ensure aspiring teacher leaders the development of better teacher-leading skills and competences for their professional development, such as effective time management, teamwork, emotional intelligence, leadership and supervision skills, adaptability, problem solving, critical observation, IT skills, monitoring and reporting skills, strategic thinking

Involve local primary and junior high schools in SKILL-AED activities, while creating an online community that will facilitate information sharing and peer support

Raise awareness at local and national level about training opportunities for teachers and educators through project activities
• Encourage mutual support between training and research institutions thanks to partnerships and inter and transdisciplinary approaches by strengthening the role of higher education institutions and research institutes at local and regional level.
Results
The partnership undertakes to produce the following results, based on research and analysis activities conducted in each countries partners:

AN ONLINE COURSE FOR TEACHER-LEADERS to expand the participants’ soft skills, strategic planning skills and expertise in educational communication, research, administration and management

AN ONLINE MENTORING AND COACHING MANUAL containing tips and techniques to provide aspiring teacher-leaders with skills and competences necessary to hold teaching and managerial positions, also offering mentoring, coaching and team-leading activities

A PARTICIPATED EVALUATION METHOD to guide the group of experts in the evaluation of aspiring teacher-leaders after training and a trial period.

A TRAINING COURSE FOR TRAINERS for professionals who will provide the Skill-AED program

A LEARNING PLATFORM to delivery the online course within a virtual community with peer, local or virtual support. This will allow participants not to feel alone in front of potential difficulties, being able to learn from each other, exchanging suggestions and advice based on similar problems and experiences.
